Activities
For sun lovers, La Punta features its own private beach and beach club with lap pool. The club is equipped with a bath, changing areas, workout room, bar and grill, and overlooks a secluded cove with year-round warm waters. Beach goers can relax in individual palapas and be taken care of by beach-club staff, who serve drinks and snacks. Or you can enjoy a picnic made by your Casa Chinampa staff and taken with you to the beach for your enjoyment. Bonus: Snorkelers will discover nearby reefs that teem with dozens of species of tropical fish.
Golfers need go no further than Las Hadas, the resort adjacent to La Punta (Part of the movie “Ten” was filmed here.) to experience “La Mantarraya,” the challenging championship golf course. And within about an hour’s drive from La Punta there are two other world-class golf courses: the elegant El Tamarindo where Monarch Butterflies winter by the thousands, and the lush 27-hole Grand Bay Isla de Navidad Resort and Marina, which is a five-minute ferry ride from the charming waterfront town of Barra de Navidad, where natives gather to sell arts and crafts from all over central Mexico and where beachfront restaurants compete for your business. Duffers can also enjoy the nine-hole golf course at Club Santiago, a residential community just a few minutes from La Punta.
In addition to tennis, golf and sport fishing, the area offers a wide selection of water sports: Scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, kayaking, surfing, jet skis, windsurfing, tubing boats are available at Las Hadas and the popular beaches at La Audiencia and Miramar. Horseback riding is also available and riders enjoy both jungle and beachfront trails. For guests who wish to explore the mountainous back roads of the state of Colima, there is much to see and do.
